Science week

This week we have done a lot of different activities which have involved science.
Today Dr Naffa did some experiments with us which were really cool.
We learnt about molecules squeezing together, about indicators for alkaline and acidity and we made Elephant toothpaste!
We had a lot of fun... we noticed and observed so many different things.
Thank you Dr Naffa for making it such a cool session.

A Special Visitor!

On Friday afternoon, Elsa's Mum, Hannah Fang, came to our Kete to play her violin for us.  Hannah began playing the violin when she was 3 years old.   She played a song from the "Moana" movie for us.  After that, she asked us what we would like to hear.  We asked for "Shake It Off."  Hannah had never played that one before but she is so good at playing the violin that she was able to play it anyway.  Hannah is an AMAZING violinist!

Beach Education

We went to the Surf Life Saving Club and tried lots of different things!

Our Sleepover

We turned our kete into a bedroom!

Sleepover and Beach education at Himatangi

Last Thursday we had our Sleepover at school.
We started the evening with an orienteering activity. It was really hard to find one of the clues but it was really good fun.
We had supper, then we created a "Surfer Dude" because we were going to Himatangi Beach the next day.

Road Safety Walk

The year 3 students went on a road safety walk down Albert Street.  We practised our skills for crossing the road by stopping, looking and listening.   We found that we needed to be particularly careful when we were near carparks and walking past driveways.  We also needed to make sure that we looked in all directions that the traffic was coming from before crossing the road.
